Rufus is Ian's pet talking cat. Rufus looks after Ian's shop, the Barton Boutique, whenever Ian is out (often for plot reasons). In The Trial of Ian, Ian revealed that he comes from a long line of shopkeepers with talking cats, and both he and Rufus are the last of their lines.

Rufus starred the Mini Comic When Ian Was Away.
In the July 16th 2007 plot update, Rufus and Ian were reunited at Gambino Mansion.
Rufus likes old, crusty lemon bars covered in lint and popcorn kernels.
