A poll whore is a nickname given to people who will answer a poll in a thread in the Gaia Forums just for the gold it gives. Thread makers will sometimes put a poll whore option on the poll so those with no interest in the topic can obtain quick gold without messing up the poll's outcome and keeping the results more accurate. Prior to this, poll whores tended to skew the results of polls, which can be problematic for threads like user-run avatar contests.

In the Weekly Poll, the standard poll whore option is something along the lines of 'OOHH EEEE AHHH'.

Pollwhoring is specifically polling on Gaia forums only for the menial gold received for voting, (usually 75 to 50 gold). Many Pollwhores do not post in the thread the poll is occupying, nor do they really have an opinion of the topic and subject in question. Some polls on Gaia attract Pollwhores on purpose, or polls are created mainly for nonsense purposes.
