Barton Town, commonly shortened to Barton, is the oldest town in Gaia, and is at the center of the Gaian community. Aside from containing links to the forums, the Gaian Guild Network, the Linklist, the Train Station, and the Art Arena, Barton also has some notable shops.

Due to the Trial of Ian, the Barton Boutique was run by Rufus the Cat for a while, but Ian has since returned to the shop after being found in the basement of Gold Mountain, playing Pinball. The boutique offers a variety of clothing ranging in price and style. Agatha runs the Barton Jewelers, which sells some pricey bits of pretty, as well as a range of sunglasses. Some time ago Rina was reintroduced as the shopkeeper for the Barton Flower Shoppe. The fourth main Barton NPC is Rina's brother Leon, who guards the town and runs the GGN.

Barton Town is the central area in the World of zOMG!.
Barton's Summer 2k7: Summer Festival team finished in 3rd place, only a few points behind Aekea.
Barton came in 1st place during the Rejected Olympics and won the Gold Trophy.
When it comes to the visiting shop Dernier Cri, and Barton being one of the places containing cliffs with a water area, it is likely that Brennivin sets his Ship around the Barton Cliffs.
