[edit] Items To List

There's a difference in what items are allowed to be listed. Event items such as Christmas, Halloween Grab bags and items should not be given their own articles. Instead they are simply listed in the item lists for those events. But special event items with importance to the storyline such as the Energy Drinks should be given an article. Monthly Collectibles are something that we put an effort to listing out every one in their own articles. And other unique, unreleased, or important items may also be listed.

[edit] Namespace/Title

Items are named starting with Item: so that they belong to the item namespace. So the Angelic Halo would be named Item:Angelic Halo. This prevents articles from possibly crashing into an Item Article and allows for all items to automatically be listed by going to this page.

Little tip. When you change a link from the old format. Vial of Unknown Liquid into the new, instead of doing this Vial of Unknown Liquid to get rid of the "Item:" prefix. Just place the "|" Character after it. Like so Item:Vial of Unknown Liquid just look Vial of Unknown Liquid exact same effect, but so much easier to edit and read.

If a Item has a Official Name, and Abbreviation, we use the Name. So For the OMG Hat, we use Odd Mischievous Gremlin Hat as the title. You may also create a Article with the name of the Abbreviation and make it redirect to the full article. Abbreviations will stay in the Main Namespace while Item articles go in the Item Namespace.

[edit] Moving to the New Format

The use of this namespace was not the previous standard. And we have many articles to move before the Item standard is complete. This section lists the steps to take to bring a old item Article to the new format.

 1. Use the move function at the top of the page to move it to the Item: Namespace.
 2. Go back to the Old Item Article, and use the Edit button to add olditem to the page so it will be listed as a old item page for future removal. (Do not erase the redirect.)
 3. Back at the Old Item page click the "What links here" link on the sidebar.
 4. Go to each article listed on the "What links here" page and change all links to the item into a link to the new page. (Example: Angelic Halo Would become Item:Angelic Halo.)

After you have changed the item page to the new format it would be a good idea to make sure the page follows the Item Page Style to.

Some time later an admin will go through the list and make sure that the article does not have any more links to it and will then delete the page.

[edit] Item Images

When uploading images to be used on item pages a strict standard is to be followed as to keep all the Item pages standardized.

Only item icon's are allowed; do not upload avatars with items on them, white avatars with items on them(from tektek or Gaia), sreenshots of item pages, or items which have been altered in any ways. The only item images allowed to be uploaded for use on item pages are the official icons which you see displayed in the inventory and on item wishlist pages(eg: [1]).

Item images must be uploaded with proper naming to allow for easy searching, listing, and to avoid name conflicts. All item images are uploaded With the name starting with Item- then the itemname. If the item has multiple poses, then the name of the pose the icon shows is placed in brackets "(Pose Name)" after the item name, with no spaces in between. The extension should always be .png because that is the format that Gaia uploads it's images in, images with incorrect extensions will be deleted.

This means that the name for the Flame Sword's '@$$ on fire!' pose would be "Item-Flame Sword(@$$ on fire!).png" and then would be able to be viewed at Image:Item-Flame Sword(@$$ on fire!).png remember that "Item-flame Sword(@$$ on fire!).png", ,"Item-Flame Sword(@$$ on fire!).jpg", "Item-Flame Sword (@$$ on fire!).png" and, "Flame Sword(@$$ on fire!).png" are illegal names.

If you come across an Item Image which doesn't follow standards add to the image description page. If it is a proper image (An Official image uploaded with an non-standard name) Then download the image and upload it under the proper standard name.

When you add a item image to a item page, only the default pose icon you see on the inventory page should be placed into the item template, that image, and all others should be placed into the gallery. Please do not upload an item image without placing it inside of the proper article.

[edit] Page Style

This is the format that all Item Pages will take.

[edit] Data To Enter

[edit] __Introduction__

This is where you write up the introduction for the item. If you are writing up a donation item you can use the donationIntro Template. Or for an unreleased item the unreleasedIntro Template.

[edit] Donation Item Intro

Example:

Here is the list of parameters that you can place in the item template. (Rightmost names override ones before them, any one will work.)

 • n, Name: Enter the name of the item using (n=, or name=).
 • a, Alt: Enter the alternative name of the item using (a=, or alt=).

[edit] __ItemTemplate__

This is where we enter the Item Template. It writes out the information you give in a special format.

Example:

 • a, Alt: Enter the alternative name of the item using (a=, or alt=).
 • i, Image: Enter the filename(Excluding the Image portion. (Use Filename.ext instead of Image:Filename.ext)) of the item image using (i=, or image=). Leave empty to make the page show up without a image frame.
 • t, Thumb: If the image you have is to big you can make it fit by adding (t=true, or thumb=true).

[edit] __ItemTrivia__

In this section you can enter any special info unique to the item. Such has how the G9 Laptop was the first item to be placed full sized in Gaia Homes.

Info such as how items like the Ninja Headband is similar to something seen on Naruto should be listed here.

If you don't have any information for this section please use three Question Marks. (???)

[edit] __ExtraSections__

You can enter any extra sections you wish here. This would be the place to write lengthy info such as what is on the Angelic Halo page.

[edit] __Gallery__

If we have uploaded more than one image of the item that the page is for, then we add a image gallery here, use this syntax.

Gallery
<gallery caption="__Item Name__">
Image:__Image1Name__
Image:__Image2Name__
Image:__Image3Name__
...
Image:__ImageNName__
</gallery>

[edit] __ExternalLinks__

Any links to other pages with relevance to the item may be placed here. Please use list format (* and a space is placed before the link, then any comments after the link.)

[edit] __ItemGroups__

This is where we enter the ItemGroups Template. It puts the Article into item categories fitting what you specify.

Useage:

[edit] Groups

You can enter up to 10 group names. You should not use the word item inside the name, just a simple capitalized word or two such as "Angelic" the item will be categorized into a item category such as "Angelic Items".

[edit] Special Groups

Special Groups work differently than Normal Groups, they do not come out as a category with the name items after them "Angelic Items". They are predefined, you enter the name of the special group then =true and it will appear in that group.

[edit] Groups to be Moved

Do not use these Groups

These groups are old groups which have been moved to other groups for various reasons. These groups may still exist, but all items inside of them should be moved to the new Groups and the Item Categories should be deleted.

 • Angelic -> Moved to Angelic/Demonic/Nitemare: Moved to allow contrasting Angelic/Demonic/Nitemare Items to be viewed as they should.
 • Demonic -> Moved to Angelic/Demonic/Nitemare: Moved to allow contrasting Angelic/Demonic/Nitemare Items to be viewed as they should.
 • Nightmare -> Moved to Angelic/Demonic/Nitemare: Moved to allow contrasting Angelic/Demonic/Nitemare Items to be viewed as they should. (Note That Nightmare was also changed to Nitemare because that is how the Items are actualy named.)
 • Donations -> Moved to Donation because Donations didn't fit in with the new template system, then moved to Special Group Monthly Collectibles because the Donation items system was renamed.
 • Donation -> Moved to Special Group Monthly Collectibles: Moved because the Donation items system was renamed.
