The Gaiapedia holds a quality standard to produce quality articles to our people. If they are not met, the article must be revised.

[edit] Article Titles

Unless normally written with different capitalization or the article follows one of the other standards below article titles use Title Case, otherwise known as Book Case where all words except unimportant ones such as "the", "in", "of", etc... are Capitalized (e.g. Manual of Style)

Names are not stored in biographical format, but in normal English. e.g. Gino Gambino as opposed to the biographical format Gambino, Gino.

With the exception of improper names(Superhero style if you wish to call it so), "The" is not part of a name, So The Von Helson Sisters article is Von Helson Sisters not "The Von Helson Sisters". The only exception for this is for official names that are not proper names such as The Masque, The Easter Bunny, and The Sniper.

Annual, and Anniversary balls have a naming scheme that goes "The _______ Gaian _______ Ball" Where the first option is the word format with suffix in other words, First, Second, etc... And the second option is either Annual or Anniversary. eg. The First Gaian Annual Ball. Note that all words have their first letter Capitalized.

Articles for features such as Cards, Slots, Towns, Homes, etc... Are made with their full name "Gaia ____", So Towns is Gaia Towns, then there's Gaia Slots, Gaia Homes, Gaia Cards, etc... Some will have redirects for common names such as Guilds to Gaia Guilds.

Along with this, currency is named similar, Gold is Gaia Gold, but we have a Gold redirect to Gaia Gold. And the same goes with Gaia Gift Credits.

Yearly Events such as Easter, Christmas, and Halloween are suffixed with the year. This year is not in the 200# format, but the 2k# format. So The Easter event for 2005 would be Easter 2k5, and The Halloween of 2003 would be Halloween 2k3.

[edit] Items

Items are placed in the Item namespace. So the Angelic Halo would be named Item:Angelic Halo.

The full set of information on how to create a Item Article is here.

[edit] Grammar, Spelling

Bad Grammar and Spelling makes it difficult for the reader not get the facts. This is not Gaia Online forums, do not slack off and use internet slang like "OMG lik I don care." for example. If you are bad at grammar and spelling you should use a word processor's spell check, use the spell checker on browsers such as Firefox 2, or have someone revise it for you. If you can't get someone nearby, mark the article for cleanup so another editor can find and fix it.

[edit] Bias and Opinions

Remember that Gaiapedia is designed as a encyclopedia, and should have the highest possible writing style. Gaiapedia is not an opinion website, nor is it designed to spread bias. Gaiapedia is meant to show both point of views. Avoid personal opinions in your articles and keep them to yourself. If you suspect bias is unavoidable on an issue, show both sides of the argument in your article.

[edit] Static/Dynamic Articles

A large percentage of the articles in The Gaiapedia are considered static. This means that even when a current event comes along, nothing is documented into the static article until what happened in the event becomes past facts. This is the case because of the way current and future events take place, normal articles should not be repeatedly edited to be kept current. Dynamic articles are the only ones which should be edited to keep up to date. Currently the only Dynamic articles are things such as the Years, Months, and the Plotline.

[edit] Formatting

The current founder of the Gaiapedia feels that this section of this page may not fit in with Gaiapedia's current policy's and directions. During the time that this page is being rebuilt some of it's rules may not actually apply to Gaiapedia, it is preferable to abide by the policy's, guidelines, and rules stated on other pages here on the Gaiapedia.

Lack of formating might require the article to be Wikified. If the article is plain without any formatting, the article will not stand out.

[edit] Main Page

The main page now uses a system to make it easier to update the individual sections. If you wish to edit one of the sections simply click the "more..." button then click the edit button at the top of the page.

As a note, when you update a section of the Main Page, don't delete anything that used to be there, instead move the <noinclude><!--Move This line upwards when you create new things at the top so the Main Page isn't overloaded--> Line upwards so it's above a little bit of the stuff that used to be part of the page. Anything below that line, and above the other </noinclude> line will not be included inside of the Main Page. This allows for older things to be viewed without cluttering up the Main Page.
