I have communicated with the owner of the Plotwiki and he is interested in a Partnership between the two wikis.
What will this improve?
Firstly, the Plotwiki is completely up to date with current events, while the Gaiapedia has no hold on current events.
The Plotwiki also has a good hold on NPC's and Locations, we can easily mirror locations such as these between the Gaiapedia and Plotwiki.
Basicly, the biggest goal of the Gaiapedia and Plotwiki is trying to create a full source of information on Gaia, and by merging the two wikis into a network we can start to achive that goal more than either of the Wikis already have.
Please give your input on the subject.
Here is the question: Are you for the Official Partnership, or against it?

I am For it. It keeps up with current events and whatnot and will hopefully get things up and running with each other. More information, the better. Xavier Valentine 02:22, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Ok... well since it seams I already have support for it.
How would you guys think it should be done. I'm thinking of a Template for switches between the wikis on pages of similar content. And a link to the Plotwiki on the current events page, allong with a botscript that when run will update the current events with a list of current events from the Plotwiki, linking to the places there.
Anything else?

Not that I can think of. Sounds good.
It's probably time for me to start working here again, too.

You should look at the Current Events page, In the section that used to be called Index I have a special spot, I built a bot. When run the bot goes onto the gaiapedia and the plotwiki at the same time, it reads the Pnav## for the different years starting from 04 until there are no more years, it extracts the event articles listed then automaticly creates the page that that section links to, it also automaticly insterts noinclude tags so that the 5 most recent events are listed in that spot. (We need to wait for Interwiki linking to get working before the links show up right.) I don't know, but since it's purely bot controled, I may protect it and leave the task to the GaiaBotSys instead of the GaiaBot... but then again, GaiaBotSys's actions show up in the Recent Changes while GaiaBot has the bot flag so it's hidden unless you tell it to show.
On the subject of bots, I'm also devising one to grab Gaia Announcements when run from the Gaia RSS Feed. But I don't know how I should built it to make this data readable. The issue is that numerous articles created by the bot wouldn't look that great cause I can't think of a way that they could be categorized and tracked properly arround gaiapedia. but I don't know how I should format all of the Announcements onto a single page. The only way I can think of would require the ability to hide and selectively show announcements, but that would require us to have the show/hide extension installed on Gaiapedia. Actualy, maby you guys would like to participate in the Extension's discussion. Dantman 04:26, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
