On February 1st, the color scheme choices for the Project Tie-Dye Ticket will be changing! Check out the new options here~

Any tickets submitted before February 1st still have the option of using the current color schemes. Tickets submitted on or after February 1st can choose from the new schemes.

Hey Gaians!

We would like to announce the retirement of the Generator Parcel Ticket. All Generator Parcel Ticket requests submitted by 11:59pm PDT on April 1, 2018 will be honored. On April 2, 2018 all remaining Generator Parcel tickets not submitted will expire and will be replaced with a Perfect Parcel.

We understand the popularity of this ticket was largely due in part to the chance of designing your own item generator and hate to see this go. With that in mind, we have decided we will be giving users the opportunity to create their own dream item generators in the form of community contests such as the Community Picks contests from time to time. Thank you for your understanding.

Sorry I messed up some configuration and some of the site images are now missing. As a result, the site header is missing and the header is a barren wasteland.

The fix had been applied but might take an hour for our caching services to catch up. Sorry for about that!

A note about recent hacking incidents

We had received reports of hackers phishing for other Gaians's IP addresses. We're working around the clock to block or remove any of these attempts.

Currently all user submitted images go through our proxy services, and next week we will be upgrading the Towns 2, Rally, and Virtual Hollywood servers.

Unfortunately, Towns 1 is too old for us to perform the upgrade, so we might have to shut down the old Towns 1 moving forward. The code for Towns 1 is 12 years old and our tools can't even compile them anymore.

Our longer term goal is to move Towns to HTML5, which will enable it to work in mobile platforms also. But until then, we'll do everything in our power to ensure that Gaia is safe.

Hello everyone,

The recent server upgrades also affected our scheduler which handles events such as marketplace listing expiration, achievement granting, daily reward granting, as well as notifications and search engine update.

We are working to bring those tasks back online, and everything on Jan 11 is up to date, while tasks scheduled for Jan 12 from 1am to 11am are still being processed.

We will be working to restore functionality for the mobile app later today. Stay tuned!

Until we fix the security issue with the flash spaces next week, flash spaces will be limited to users who registered on Gaia before December, 2017. Codemonkey is working around the clock to bring you the security fix! Thank you for your patience.

Mobile App not working until next week

We've made the changes necessary for the mobile apps to work, unfortunately the mobile app require a server upgrade on the web server which isn't scheduled until Tuesday, Jan 14th.

All the work we had done so far is to change all the Gaia programs to run on secure mode, then the next step is to upgrade the servers to newer versions so they can support today's stronger secure protocols, which the mobile app requires.

I happen to have caught a nasty cold yesterday, so I will take this opportunity to rest up some more. We will continue fixing other bugs until then!

Thanks to CodeMonkey for staying up during the weekend and upgrading the backend servers for Towns 2, Rally, and Virtual Hollywood, the servers have rid of existing exploits and are safe to use once more.

Towns 1 is still using the old Sushi server, unfortunately. We will need to eventually take it offline. I will be listening to your feedback as we figure out the next steps.

The outfit selling option had just been fixed. Meanwhile, the android mobile app should be working without https. Newer versions of both Apple and Android apps will be updated later this week.

Gaia Hardware Server Upgrade

After all the software upgrades, we can finally upgrade the web servers themselves to support the more secure version of HTTPS protocol.

Web browsers and mobile clients will be able to connect through a more secure protocol moving forward. It's transparent to everyone, with the exception that your session is now more secure.

The downside is that older browsers that don't support the latest secure protocol such as Internet Explorer 6 will not work with Gaia anymore. For those using IE6, please upgrade to IE7 or other browsers such as Chrome and Firefox.

We just noticed that Towns 2 or Rally will fail to load if the specific server is full. Please try another server when this is happening. We will work on a fix for this at a later date.

More server upgrade complete

Today we continue our server upgrades, this time the web server operating system and compilers are upgraded. It's both a security and a performance upgrade on our end.

There are a few problems that are quickly fixed, including:

- problem with the redirect page after posting in forum - some profile pages now showing - "Could not get offer item relationship" error when loading marketplace

Pardon the mess! We are working around the clock to stabilize the system as we speak.

Looks like the new server doesn't work well with the old implementation of the Google Authenticator. We are fixing the feature right now. Meanwhile, secondary authentication is turned off so login is still possible. The fix should be coming tonight or tomorrow.

Secondary Authentication Is Back

Secondary authentication is back, but due to having new encryption tools installed, all the old secondary authentication data had been wiped out, and all secondary authentication settings had been turned off for all accounts.

Please remove the current Gaiaonline authentication key from Google Authenticator, and start the secondary authentication process again. Sorry for the trouble, but we have much safer encryption moving forward.

I am sure you have noticed it but I'm here to announce that we have a new header. Functionally it's mostly the same, but code-wise, it's brand new!

Why you ask? As you all know, Gaia is a pretty old site and as a result there are many many limitations. One of the major things holding back an update to Gaia is the header so I set out to make a new one while trying to keep it familiar for everyone.

Moving forward, we should now be able to make our pages just a little bit more modern.

We've applied a fix for the aquarium, hopefully that will resolve your issues with aquarium not loading.

We had also increased the lifespan for all fishes by 2 weeks, so all fishes should be okay. Thank you for being patient with us.

Hi there! I am coming to you with an update and one reminder!

- When submitting any ticket for Project Recolor we are now requiring a reference for color. This can be done by linking us items with similar colors, giving us an image of the custom color you want or giving us hex codes. Many of you have come up with creative new schemes, but we are having trouble making sure we get colors exactly right for you! By providing us with reference you will help us make sure your item comes out just right!

- If you submit an item that came from Lucky Catch please make sure to mention in your order if you would like it released in Lucky Catch, a Recolor Chance Item, or if you have no preference!

If we have to clarify on your order it can result in your item moving further back in the queue due to having to email back and forth, so if you make sure this information is in your email we can make sure you keep your spot!

So in the process of trying to deal with some issues of cheating we ended up accidentally ended up deleting all of the current vote data for all three of today's contests and unfortunately we are not going to be able to recover the data.

So what we are going to do is let the rest of the entries play out and then remove the winnings from everyone tomorrow. Basically we're going to consider all the contests void for today.

Ticket Update Due to user request, we have made Project Exclamation tickets stackable!

This is a stackable ticket, meaning that you can submit multiple Exclamation Tickets for one additional pose each of the same text/colors in your item, to a maximum of 5. Note that long text may not fit in some of the bubble positions, and as such there may be a lower cap on your particular ticket.

This means that for each Project Exclamation ticket you submit, you can claim one additional pose for your bubble in a different location around the avatar.

Hopefully some people will enjoy this addition!

Hey Guys!

From 12:00am to 12:08am PST 2/22/2018 the What are the Chances Tier erroneously contained Blood Suckaz (5 Pack) as one of the rewards. This item was placed in the tier by mistake. It has since been replaced with Black Friday 2k16 Blast.

Users who have redeemed that tier level with Blood Suckaz (5 Pack) do not need to file a ticket with our help center. We have soulbound Blood Suckaz and Blood Suckaz (5 pack) until the correct item will be replaced in the morning. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

However - If you purchased Gaia Cash from 12:08am PST to 12:41am PST on 2/22/2018 and did not receive tier rewards from the What are the Chances Tier, please file a billing inquiry ticket with our help center. ^_^

Tier Funder Rule Change

Hello, we would like to announce a change to our current tier funder events. In August 2016, our policy changed to allow tier exclusive items from August 2016 onward to be eligible for re-release after a six month resting phase. After great consideration, we have decided to make this policy retroactive for all tiers. This change will allow for the potential future re-release of some tier items that no longer exist in the marketplace without deprecating these items’ value.

To clarify, tier exclusive items will still not be eligible to be re-released in La Victoire, Pop Square, C9, Mecha Neko, or Rococo. They will still only be available for re-release through tier funder events, and only after a six month resting phase.

Project Recolor Policy Change

We are now going to allow users to request normal or fantasy skintones for leg or body mods in their recolor! Previously, we wouldn't allow someone to request fantasy skintones unless we had already done a Gaia-made recolor of your chosen item with them. But now you don't have to wait for us to do that!

Fantasy skintones only include our standard fantasy colors: Grombie, Vampire, Dark Elf, Blue Elf, Cicero, White. No substitutions. There is also no blush, gradients, overlays, glows, etc. You can not pick and choose a few skins from the normal skintones and a few from the fantasy tones; it is one set or the other.

As always, you can select a custom solid color for the 7th pose (when applicable).

You may choose to recolor up to 1 Lucky Catch item in your Diamond Tier. You can either select it to be your Exclusive, or something in your suggestion list! As a reminder, not all suggestions are used completely, so you may not actually get that set in your tier!

If you have a Diamond Ticket in queue waiting to be accepted, and would like to make edits to your order, please send an amended reply to the original e-mail chain!

Previous experience is not necessary. If you are willing to train as a moderator and put in the active effort, the moderation team will give you all the tools necessary for the job. One of Gaia's first lines of defense is the moderation team on Gaia. They often remove offensive, harmful, or disruptive content and are an invaluable resource to the site. The moderation team is made up of Gaians who enjoy and are as passionate for Gaia as you are. Moderators come from all walks of life and communities on Gaia. Project Recolor Update

A couple of quick updates from the Project team~

Hue shifting will only be allowed with a Double Rainbow ticket unless it is an official Gaia Online schemes (ie: dupioni, sorbet) We now allow Kindred items to be recolored via the Stylist License and Accessory License, in addition to our previous allowance of Beautician license!

Regarding Mahō no Haru Tier

Hello Gaians! This morning the Mahō no Haru Tier went live and originally hit a snag, but at 9:23 AM PDT we were able to correct the changes and the tier is once again repeatable! We've done some further testing since then, and users should now be able to fund the tier and claim rewards multiple times, instead of the tier being locked after a single completion.

If you are experiencing any other issues with the tier/claiming rewards, please file a billing ticket at our Help Center.

After a lot of community feedback, we have made the following changes to the boxed inventory system.

Arranging

No longer affects main inventory
Can arrange items in the box by name
Can arrange items in the box by price - high to low or low to high
Can arrange items in the box by market change - high to low or low to high

Item Display

Options Bar - drop down options bar that includes:
Zoom in or out on thumbnails - currently 2 settings
Jump to page
Search Button

Tooltips

Item names display on mouse over or long click on mobile

Search

Search by keyword - example table
Include filter - example red
exclude filter - example snuggle
This would bring up all red tables except the red snuggle table.

Cached Searches

The last 4 searches have links on the search page to pull up results instantly

Results

Results show all locations of an item. For example:
Unboxed contains 1 item around page 4 (with the option to jump to that location)
Cool Stuff contains 2 items
Items are highlighted to make it easier to find on the page.

Misc

long numbers on thumbs changed to M and K, i.e. 100000 changed to 100K
Loading Screen
Mouse wheel scrolls items

Site slowdowns and issues logging in

We're sorry for the page load problems and login problems that had been happening for the past few days.

We had been consistently upgrading Gaia's software on the back end servers for multiple reasons:

- We need to comply with new security protocols that other external services are using - Some of our old software need to be upgraded for security reasons - We are moving our servers to cloud services, and any old software need to be upgraded before the move - Many of Gaia's servers are really old, and we are prepping to replace them

We would very much like to leave things alone and have them work, but unfortunately the world around us move at a tremendous pace, and we need to keep up in order to provide better service in the long run.

Although there isn't any indicator stating that some of the recent upgrades caused the current site issues, we are still monitoring the system to find out why the slow downs are happening. Please be patient with us and we will bring things back up to speed ASAP!

Hey Gaians, we have a special surprise for those in the San Jose area!

To celebrate Fanime and our upcoming Official Panel, we made a special Snapchat filter that will only be available tomorrow (5/27) at the Crystal Ballroom (Panels 3 at the Fairmont Hotel) from 11AM - 1PM and at the San Jose Convention Center Plaza from 12PM - 5PM.

As of May 24th our Tie-Dye schemes have rolled over to summer! The updated list can be seen here!

Since our announcing the official change is a little late any tickets submitted between the 24th and now we will allow Spring colors if that is what you submitted on the original order.

If you opened a copy of Coco's Road Trip between 1:00 and 1:37 PM PDT and received the Barton Bundle, then you'll have unintentionally received a copy of a chance item called Barton Barista. We swapped that out with the item Heart of a Barton Schoolboy, and if you'd rather have that than Barton Barista, please feel free to file a Billing ticket at the Help Center and we'll get those swapped out for you. If you'd rather keep the Barton Barista you received, then you don't need to do anything! Our apologies for the mix up, and have a good day!

With Gaia Gatcha having been discontinued after the release of volume 12, and in seeing the resurgence of popularity in the wake of their return during GaiaCon 2k18, we have decided to change our policy with regard to re-releasing Gatcha items to help you all complete your collections. Going forward, we will allow the re-release of Gatcha items in bundles sold directly through La Victoire. Since yesterday we had been having problem with some of our servers. You might have noticed that search is not working right, your notifications haven't been working, and some Flash games are also lagging or dropping you out.

We noticed the server errors on our end and are working hard to identify the issue.

We hope to fix everything in a day or two, and will inform you as soon as things are back to normal. Thank you for your patience.

For security reasons, we will be turning off some of the old games that uses our old game servers. Those games include:

• Slots
• Pinball
• Tiles
• BlackJack
• LoveFactory
• Friend Chat

The more popular games such as Towns 1, Jigsaw and Fishing will continue running as we create new versions for them.

I know that many of these games are many Gaian's favorites throughout the years, and we will try our best to refresh those games as soon as possible.

We've adjusted the payout for Booty Grab, and gave some extra bonus for those getting Platinum payout.

The long standing fish expire bug had also been fixed. There shouldn't be fishes stuck in your tank anymore. Sorry for the long wait.

Hi all! There was an issue with the Junked Up bundle that entered the store this morning where it had the wrong name and didn't have the correct bundle exclusive in it This has been fixed and will display correctly in the store in a minute or two, but if you bought and opened the bundle before it was fixed, please file a ticket at our Help Center and we'll get you the correct item as soon as we can. Sorry for the mix up!

We finally found the real problem behind prizes not being granted properly at the first of the month. We also found some inconsistency in sorting votes, and the results between winning prizes will be properly reflected in the Runway Museum starting August 3rd, 2018.

Hi there~

A quick update to how we will be handling things over at Project Recolor. We will no longer be allowing custom pose names. Pose names will either be the same as the original item or, in the case of our License tickets, the color or scheme, whichever fits the pose best.

If your order has been previously accepted with custom pose names it will be allowed, but any orders that are unaccepted will not be allowed to have custom pose names!

For the past two weeks the Runway museum had a major problem:

- on the first page, the first place winner is missing - pages 2 and over will only show entries from page 1

It was a silly problem on my part after re-writing the engine. The problem should be fixed now.

Gaia Runway Updates

Hello everyone,

We've recently released some updates for Runway which includes changes on the voting page itself, where the top 5 entries section had been replaced with a section that highlight popular entries within the top 25% bracket. This change is to accompany some of the security features released today.

We had implemented a security system to detect and remove votes that are considered as bots or cheats. Moderator tools had also been improved. Hopefully this will keep Runway contests fair and equal moving forward.

Hello again!

First up, we have changed our tie-dye schemes over to fall officially! These schemes can be seen here!

Second, a bit of change to how we count poses. Orders submitted after this announcement can count v1 and v2 arms as one pose, similar to how we stack leg poses!

Just wanted to let you all know, with the addition of Lisa's Rainbow, when using a recolor ticket, you can recolor a full series ie Sweltering Semester Series or Listen to the Lyrics Series! (up to 10 poses of course!)

Apparently the newly updated Chrome and Safari browser had problem with some older scripts in our system. The pull down menu should be fixed now. Thank you for your patience!

We've just updated Runway yet again as part of the server migration with the following changes:

- Runway entries are now stored in faster cloud storage - Highlighted avatars will continuously refresh while voting, updating every 5 votes - Runway Museum listing now shows thumbnails of each theme

Hi all! There was an issue with the Shop the Look: Moon of Chang'e bundle where it was granting the hair pose for the Moon of Chang'e item instead of the full set. Runway voting isn't working today, and will resume voting tomorrow.

Just when we thought all Runway bugs were fixed, we had one more bug that got in the way when the month rolls around, and unfortunately no entries were made on September 30, 2018. No entry fees should be taken and no free GCash entry tokens were taken. We will find another day to re-release the Runway themes for September 30th.

The following changes will be applied to any Project Recolor and/or Custom order that has not yet been accepted:

Item names will be limited to 35 characters not including spaces. Item descriptions will be limited to 150 characters including spaces.

Gaia Outfit update

Hello everyone,

Today we've moved Gaia Outfits to our new storage facility. The changes will affect the outfit feature inside the inventory system, as well as the sell outfit feature in the marketplace.

If you experience any missing outfit or have trouble with buying or selling outfits, please report any errors on the feedback thread.

As part of the update we also fixed the bug where outfits with one or more missing items would fail to apply on your avatar, as well as a bug where selected outfits would fail to save.

Avatars in Gaia Towns and Rally is working again. We did another big migration push today and broke a couple of things. There will be more changes today but we'll keep a close eye on potential bugs. Thank you for your patience!

The avatar entries have been fixed, but thumbnails are still broken. They should be fixed before 7pm, PST.
