We're currently testing a new feature that allows you to favorite (or bookmark) any avatars you see on the site. You might see an option to search for favorites under the search bar, or you might be getting notifications when someone else favorite your avatar during testing, but it's not available to everyone just yet!

Community Update: Changes in Gaia Cash sales!

Hey, Gaians!

We wanted to deliver a few updates to you about our Gaia Cash sales. As many of you have noticed, we have had some really deep-dished discounts on our Gaia Cash for a long time. Unfortunately, this comes with a few complications that would be detrimental to Gaia's future. For the preservation of things to come, we've had to make some hard decisions about these Gaia Cash discounts going forward.

We have decided to dial back on how we do our Gaia Cash sales and shake it up a bit. You're going to see a lot of changes while we bitty-boppity ways to give you more bang for your buck! We have new and exciting ways on the table to get more through the purchase of Gaia Cash, and we have been tossing around a few ideas that have been proposed in the past by Gaians (Thank you, by the way!). It might take a while to get things in place, so we request your patience as we make some magic!

Here's what you can expect to see in Gaia Cash discounts the next few days:

For those who are experiencing long load times on your inventory or dress-up page, I've fixed a few bugs and optimized some code, so things should load a lot faster now!

The down side is that the feature which displays your inventory's worth has been disabled for now.

Outfit slots price change

I listened to a user request and made a small change to the avatar outfit system by raising the maximum slots from 100 to 200. It was a quick change just to raise the cap and I didn't think much about the price.

Through feedback I've heard many stating that they would like to purchase the new slots through gold as a gold sink, so I've added some new pricing structures, and now the additional 100 slots are available to be purchased with gold now. Note that at anytime you can still purchase additional slots using GCash at 25GC per slot.

For those who spent GC on outfit slots number 101 or higher earlier this week and wish to have used gold instead, please contact me and I can make the adjustments for you. (please note that purchasing below slot number 100 still cost 25 gold)

Here's the new pricing for slots 100 - 200:

• slots 101 - 150: 1,400,000,000 gold
• slots 150 - 200: 2,000,000,000 gold
• slots 28 - 100: 25 GCash (same as before)

I did not change the pricing structure for slots 1 through 100 because that had been the price for years and I do not want to be unfair for those who had already spent GC on their outfit slots.

I'm trying to reproduce the problem but with no luck, so I'm hoping that I can get on a computer with this bug happening and do a little bit of debugging.

• - Inventory arranger bug where items get shuffled around after saving, or have item in temp storage that cannot be moved back to main storage
• - Have Google Chrome Remote Desktop installed, and have Remote Assistance installed, running, with a share code ready

Hey everyone!

After a long and tiring battle, I've finally squashed a majority of the inventory arranger bug!

Please note that there will be four major changes to the inventory system:

• - Identical items spanning across all pages will be grouped together as one stack
• - A stack of items takes up one slot, regardless of quantity. A page with 25 slots will now display 25 stacks of items.
• - If you have a Halo on page 1, and you receive a second Halo, it will be stacked with the original Halo on page 1, instead of sitting at the last page.
• - Some of your items might get re-arranged as the inventory initialize for the first time.

Inventory Arranger debugging

There had been some problems with the new inventory arranger, and we're fixing the issue as we speak. It should be back up before 6PM, PST.

Once the update is complete, there will be some new functions:

• - There is now an option to enable/disable item stacking! Option is located on the bottom of the inventory page.
• - Default stacking option is Disabled. When you turn the option on, it'll sort through your duplicate items.
• - Marketplace will respect stacking option also

Recent Inventory Bug Fixes

- The bug with stacked items arranging themselves when stacking is disabled had been fixed - The bug with incorrect page number is fixed - I've made some changes to the drag and drop library. Hope that will resolve the Chrome browser problem where dragging doesn't work

Big thank you for those who figured out it was their touchscreen laptops where Chrome drag and drop was not working. That helped a lot in guiding me to fix the bug. Also thanks for all who reported the other bugs. Wouldn't be able to fix them quickly without your feedback.

• - People with less than 3000 items might see some missing items with global stack, that's fixed
• - Added Kin's level under the Kindred tab so it's easier to tell what to sell
• - Fixed problem where users would see no item when global stack is enabled.

Known problem

• - Item dragging with mouse doesn't work on laptops with touchscreen
• - Error received when trying to move item

• - Fixed cache not busting after inventory refresh, causing further item moves to fail
• - Fixed item disappear after moving on per page stacking
• - Fixed Item inconsistencies when moving between global stacking and non-stacking
• - Fixed Astra items sitting in equip tab
• - Fixed Marketplace removing the icon of a stack of items after selling just one

Still can't fix the bug with touchscreen laptops not being able to move with mouse. Will work on that later.

I've uploaded an updated Javascript UI library to fix the inventory bug for Chrome users with touchscreen laptop.

If any SCAS beta testers have a touchscreen laptop, please try out arranging items in the inventory arranger and PM me if it works or not.

All other SCAS testers, please try out different areas of the site and help check if all features such as pull down menu, pop up windows, and any other dynamic elements are working correctly.

It has been a busy month for us here at Gaia HQ, and we wanted to provide you all with a bit of insight about how things are going. As you may know, Gaia is currently in the middle of a transition period, with the return of lanzer and a number of other former staff members. We've been listening to your feedback and concerns, and we'd like to thank you for your continued support and interest in improving the Gaia Online experience.

Although we're still in the middle of this transition period, we feel it's important to take some time to let you all know that we encourage you to keep telling us what you are looking for out of Gaia. While not all feedback will be implemented, we will take it into consideration as a possibility. If you have any suggestions moving forward, please let us know!

While it's going to take some time, we are in the midst of stabilizing the Gaia economy as well as the Gaia business, and patching up some active features. Our goal is to make Gaia a more fun environment to be involved in for everyone, and we'd also like to provide more benefits to our yearly and monthly supporters that are making these strides possible. There are exciting new things coming on the horizon, so keep logging in, keep checking it out, and keep offering your feedback!

Bug Fixes Update!

Today we squashed a bug that had been causing the site to crash during some item releases. We'll be testing it out tomorrow and hopefully there will be no more outage in the foreseeable future! (more info here)

Also squashed a few more bugs for inventory arranger. But we still need more work on the frontend to make things work better. For the time being:

If you have global stacking enabled, and you have big stacks of items on a page, please lower the item per page count to 300, or you might experience errors when moving items.

Touchscreen laptop inventory mouse drag bug is still alive! Will try a different fix tomorrow.

There's also a bug on Gaia Favorites. If you hit the delete button on the red banner and more than one of your favorites were deleted, you can post in this forum and I can restore them. Gaia Favorites bug report thread

Yesterday's inventory patch messed up item arranging for people with per page stacking. Sorry about that! The problem should be fixed now.

In addition, the item sellback bug had been fixed. As for those who are having trouble selling Kindred items, it'll be addressed tomorrow. LionHeart had been working on some new features...

Inventory Worth Calculator Is Back

Thanks for the bug report! The 500 error should be fixed at 7:10AM

After some improvements to the code, the inventory worth calculator is back! Even though the code runs a lot faster, for those with a large inventory will still take a short while to load. Here is the difference in the new version:

• - Inventory worth is not calculated every time the page loads. You must click on a link to get your inventory worth
• - Results are saved for 4 hours after each click. If you made changes to your inventory afterwards, you'll need to wait until the timeout is over. This is to prevent the feature from overloading the system.

Today's changes and fixes

After another round of optimization, the inventory worth calculator is now 40% faster and takes up less memory. Gaians with more than 30,000 items should have no problem using it now.

Another inventory arranger bug was fixed. It has to do with having equipped items in the page. Hopefully there will be most of the major bugs. The illusive touchscreen laptop bug is still at large, however. I'll try another library file tonight.

Also happy to say that we've squashed more memory related errors around the site. There should be less white screens after saving avatars and other activities.

It's a feature that we should have long ago, but we finally have the option to resize images on the image tag. Easiest to explain this is through examples:

While working on reviving Monster Galaxy, I couldn't help myself but to do some tinkering. This time I've migrated all features outside of Forums to use the new BBCODE that Forums had been using for the past few years. Things like the new smilies, video tags, and the image resize tags should all work everywhere across the site now.

Many little changes had to be made across the site, so there's bound to be a few places left that still need special attention.

Lake Kindred Amulet Feature

I am happy to announce the launch of the amulet system in Lake Kindred!

Amulets are a new type of item that can be equipped to your kin to give them unique buffs. There are three basic types of amulets. Square, circle and diamond, each with different rarity levels. You can reveal the equip sockets for each of your kin. Each socket will allow you to equip a particular shape of amulet. Visit the My Kins section in Lake Kindred and go to Equip Items to reveal the sockets on your kin. Please note, once you equip an amulet onto a kin, both the amulet and your kin will become soulbound and cannot be sold back to the store until you un-equip the amulet. It also will cost a little gold to un-equip amulets depending on the amulet rarity.

For today only, we are giving out a free amulet. Click here to claim your item!

We've made a change recently which caps the number of times Sycamorte and Phantom Sycamorte can spawn per day, per account to 20 times. There is also a cap on the number of battles that can be played per day which is 5,000. We will monitor the Lake Kindred forum and adjust as needed if the numbers seem unreasonable.

In other news, I've rolled out a couple of bug fixes where amulet stats were being miscalculated.

Lake Kindred Fixes

I've fixed an issue where amulets with the stamina property were not properly applying to the kin it was equipped to when waking the kin up or using a stamina potion. Also fixed a minor bug where after using a consumable on kin, the kin would lose it's position in relation to it's inventory slot.

Next on my list is to take a close look at the drop rates, as I've seen many reports of them still not working.

I've just released a small fix for the display issue when hovering over amulets on the marketplace. While testing, I noticed that there's a bug happening with amulet properties missing data. I am going to work on fixing this next, but until then, be aware that if you buy an amulet off the MP that has blank stats, these may not work correctly.

New Favorites Privacy Settings

Under your settings page, there is now an option to disable avatar favorites under the "Gaia Favorites" section.

This is a privacy setting that will make all favorites of your avatars not show up in public. Only the individual who favorited your avatar can view it.

The decision to not completely disable the feature outright was made because any user can save the graphic of any avatar image, and to force users to go back to saving images manually just doesn't make sense.

There's also been a category called "theme" added to avatar favorites. You'll see this option when adding or editing favorites. This will work with other filtering and search features later on.

For the past week, I had been spending every moment of my time working on zOMG , so I only have time to answer about 10 private messages a day. Though recently I'm getting more and more messages that now I have a big backlog which I need to sort through.

For bug reports, item and feature quests, I'll add your suggestions to my to-do list, but I might not have time to everyone.

For those who need help with banning issues, account recovery issues, or other account related needs, please be sure to open a ticket through The Gaia Help Portal. It might take a while but we are ramping up our staff to handle your issue as we speak.

As usual, I'll try to answer as many PM's as I can on a daily basis.

I have a preview mode that allows me to read through all private messages at once, so your message might not be marked as read, but be assured that I go through all my messages.

Changes to the Limited Quantity Item timetable!

Hello, Gaians!

We hope you’re having a great day. There’s a lot going on over here, and we want to keep you posted! Bear with us, this is a long post, but we want you all to be as informed as possible!

Starting today, March 1st, 2017, we are going to test out a new way of handling our Limited Quantity Items. We want to ensure that our community will benefit from how we handle our limited items, which is why this is going to be a trial for the time being.

As such, there will be a slight change in the Gaia-created Limited Quantity Item rules. User-designed item rules (Golden, Platinum, etc.) will not have these conditions applied to them and their rules will remain unchanged.

Limited Quantity Items will be in the store for their normal duration (for example, a Limited Quantity Item put in on March 4th will leave on March 8th). However, they will now be eligible for re-release (in any way, shape, or form) until the last day of the month that they were initially released. They will then not be re-released for 6 months, starting that last day at 11:59PM PST. This means they could potentially pop up from time to time within the month that they were first released, any time between the last day of their red time limit and the last day of that given month.

For example:

• If they were initially released on March 1st, they have until March 31st; those items will then not be eligible for release until October 1st, 2017.
• If they were released April 10th, they have until April 30th; those items will then not be eligible for re-release until November 1st, 2017.
• If they were released on September 20th, they have until September 30th; those items will then not be eligible for re-release until April 1st, 2018.

So, as a review:

• The new conditions will only apply to Limited Quantity Items that have not met their sale cap set in the Cash Shop. We will not add more to that cap. If the inventory is 399, we will only distribute 399 of that item.
• If a Limited Quantity Item has sold out within the usual 4-5 day time frame then we will not apply these new conditions as there will not be inventory of that item left.
• Gaia Online reserves the right to use leftover inventory of Limited Quantity Items at our discretion within the month of release. Not all leftover LQI inventory will be repackaged/re-released, so wait at your own risk as they will enter the rest period after the last day of the month.
• User-designed items (items recolored with a submitted Rainbow Ticket, SDPlus Dolls made from submitted Platinum tickets, new designed items made from Golden Tickets) are not going to have these same conditions applied. All user-designed (usermade) items will remain unchanged from their respective rules.
• All LQI items will not be eligible for recoloring with the Rainbow, Double Rainbow, Mini Rainbow or Baby Rainbow until after the 6 month rest period.

This may not happen with every Limited Quantity Item so, again, wait at your own risk! Since this will be in effect starting today, all past Limited Quantity Items are grandfathered under the old rules, and will have a full 6-month rest period from the day of release.

If we find that the benefits do not outweigh the negatives then we will revert back to the old timetable.

Generator Parcel Update & Clarifications

Hello everyone! I'm Takuya, and as of today I will be handling Generator Parcel requests. There's a bit of a backlog to work through, but I hope that we'll be able to start releasing Generator Parcel item generators soon! As I've been working through email submissions and questions I've noticed some common overlap in concerns and item requests, so I wanted to provide you all with an update and some clarifications with regard to what the Generator Parcel can and can't be used for.

What you CAN include in your Generator Parcel request:

Non-exclusive equippable items, including Limited Quantity items that have cleared the 6-month release mark

What you CANNOT include in your Generator Parcel request:

Project Tickets, Quartz Stubs, Perfect Parcels, and any other similar redeemable/non-equippable items.

Kin, item bundles, chance items, and game/Alchemy items, as they are not equippable.

Project Custom items created by people other than you. (While you can redeem a Perfect Parcel in some instances to receive a custom item created by another user, the Generator Parcel does not allow for this.)

Any tier exclusive item from before August 2016 or from a Project Diamond Ticket tier.

Tier exclusive items from August 2016 or later that have not cleared the 6 month waiting period.

Rule Exceptions:

Project Custom items that you created can be included in your item generator, provided it is not an exclusive/limited-release item (such as a Project Platinum Ticket doll or Golden Scissor's Custom Cut exclusive hairstyle). Rainbow Parcel bundles and their exclusive items are not eligible, but you can select one of the non-exclusive items from your Rainbow Parcel bundle if you so choose.

You can request a maximum of one Limited Edition Collector's Pass exclusive item as part of your submission, provided it has been more than 6 months since the item was released as part of the Collector's Pass. You individually will be granted the equippable exclusive item, and one Limited Edition Collector's Pass that contains that exclusive will be included in your item generator as a rare drop. This does not apply to Collector's Pass Plus exclusives, which cannot be selected as part of this exception.

The official rules have been updated to better reflect what is stated here, as well. I hope this clears things up for those curious! If you have any questions or concerns with regard to Generator Parcels, or if you have previously submitted a Generator Parcel request and would like to update or alter your submission, please feel free to send an email to theredeemproject @ gaiaonline.com and I'll reply as soon as I am able!

13 Current zOMG Bugs

Current zOMG Bugs

Currently, zOMG is restored to its former state as of 2014. I've dealt with any show stopping bugs, but some bugs could not be fixed without the original source code. Namely:

• Gold count appears as negative number in zOMG if gold value is above 2 billion
• Gold being granted in zOMG is lower than the actual amount granted. This is to prevent too much gold coins appearing on screen and crashing the game.

Luckily, we got hold of the original source code thanks to Halzy. I'll be working through the source code to fix these problems in the coming weeks.

So for now, enjoy zOMG, minus the gold counter.

I noticed that many of you are having trouble accessing temp storage, or seeing errors moving items out of temp storage. Some of the problem might be caused by items moved previous to the recent changes to the inventory system.

To help with this problem, I've added a link underneath temp storage that will clear your lockers and temp storage and move all those items back to your main inventory so you can have a fresh start.

For those of you who wish to experience your quests in zOMG again, the option is now available!

Look under your quest history tab and you'll see the option to checkmark certain quests and reset them. Active quests can be reset also.

Currently there are no limit to resetting quests. If there are any concerns on being able to reset any particular quests frequently, please PM me and let me know.

Since the Monthly Collectibles are no longer being sold on the 15th, until we have an MC replacement, the Monthly CI will change it's release date to the 15th instead. So look for the next Monthly CI release in a week!

And as for MC's next evolution, we will have news to share pretty soon. Stay tuned!

The Help Center has been fixed so you can visit it and file tickets once again. If you have filed a ticket in the past and it has not been replied to yet, you do not need to refile. Your ticket is still on file. If you tried to file since April 10, 2017 at 3:21pm PDT when we reported it was down, you will need to refile as we did not get your ticket.

Once again, if you have an existing ticket on file, you do not need to refile. If you tried to file a ticket when we reported it was down, you will have to refile.

I've made some changes so that the golden egg will spawn more often. Please expect the servers to restart at 2PM , PST. They will take 2 minutes to restart.

I'll also assign one of the servers to have no easter event as some of you have requested. That server will have the prefix "[no event]" added to the server name.

Ok... So here's what's happening. A dragon came and started attacking the town businesses job system DB, then the Vanguard was unleashed to destroy the beast, but when they moved in to attack, it took flight. The Vanguard fought with all their strength and wit to keep the dragon from breathing death and destruction upon the town below cascading database failure. The Vanguard was able to keep the dragon at bay, but not before it was able to launch fireballs destroying towns folk possessions inventory, and another destroying the village market marketplace. The beast even attacked the local fields where the annual royal games were underway. games and event

...Then... things got weird...

...the entire world just disappeared and the Vanguard and the dragon were in a vast white void! php syntax error caused site whitescreen

The Vanguard attacked various dragon limbs but even after the wings were destroyed it somehow kept in the air. we made many code changes that should have addressed the issue but nothing did. Then the Vanguard realized the dragon was really a time-travelling dragon and...

What actually happened... Our job system was overloaded, we suspect from some particular games making large amounts of requests. After addressing that issue something was still generating massive amounts of queries keeping the system overloaded. After debugging most of the day we pinned the issue to old code firing off job calls for a system that we assumed was properly disabled. This is now fixed and we are waiting for the slave servers to process some of the backlog before bringing key features back online.

TLDR

• Job system overloaded
• Took long time to find cause
• Now waiting for servers to process data

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. The code we were dealing with has been untouched for about 10 years!

Easter Event Update

Upon closer examination, we found out that it was our new Easter Egg Matching Minigame that was causing problems.

The problems cascade into a lot of different errors, including our logging server bringing many systems down.

We now have the issue under control, but it takes time for some database to recover.

As soon as the system stabilize, we will re-enable the zOMG Easter Event.

We will fix the Easter Minigame tonight, and it should be back by tomorrow.

Sorry for the trouble! We're working around the clock to bring everything back up!

We have some new Alchemy formulas in Bifrost for you! We're introducing Swift Philosopher Caches which will grant you a random alchemy component from any one of the various Philosopher Cache Bags. There are also new recolored wings that you can obtained if you have collected a certain amount of Philosopher Caches!

As an additional bonus, we've added a "Play Again" button to the existing Philosopher Caches!

Be sure to check Bifrost for the recipes!

Alchemy Page Loading Error Fixed

The problem with long loading times or even white page error related to Alchemy has now been fixed!

One of the last fatal errors on Gaia has to do with Alchemy. The recent new formulas allowed me to find more occurrences of the error to let me finally fix the bug. Load time went from 30+ seconds to 0.1 second! Yay!

Just found another set of bad code that was causing the Alchemy page to load very slowly.

The Alchemy page should be working for everyone now, finally.

The old patch was to fix problems for people with a large inventory. Today's patch is to fix problems for people with a large amount of ingredients.

Load time went down from 38 seconds to 0.4 second. Finally!

Turns out my previous fix introduced a bug where the wrong item quantity was counted, so the Alchemy page was still broken.

While fixing that problem, I found one extra process to optimize, and now the load time is 0.17 second!

So the page load is now 223 times faster. Yay!

He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his wealth, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his son everything he knew, then his son led to him being killed. Ironic. He could save others from poverty, but not himself.

If you're an active user interested in lending a hand to Gaia Online by testing out new features and events before they're launched, help us iron out the bugs by joining SCAS, our beta testing guild! To become a member of SCAS, your account must be in good standing with Gaia Online and have no recent ToS violations. To apply, simply send an email to apply4beta@gaiaonline.com with the following information:

• Your username. If you have already sent in an e-mail and it does not include your username, simply resend it!
• You must include the e-mail subject, "SCAS Application", or we will not be able to process your application.
• At this time we are only able to accept Gaians that are of 18 years of age or older. Unfortunately this is a requirement as we do need you to sign a legal mutual nondisclosure agreement.

We have cleared out all our existing applications. That means if you have applied in the past and never heard back from us, then you will need to resend your application. We do not have any more of the applications prior to May 10, 2017.

More wishlist fixes and update

The wishlist bug where items cannot be deleted if the item limit is reach had just been fixed.

We also changed the backend and increased the wishlist limit. We set the current limit to 1000 items for now. And we'll increase the number once we have pagination installed.

Wishlist panel bug fix

We've recently added in the wishlist management screen the option to delete items that are already obtained, as well as flags on those items.

Though the feature did have a bug that showed random items to appear. That should have been fixed now.

Hey Gaians,

We have addressed the issue with subscriptions and things should be working again as normal. If you subscribed earlier and did not get your Angel Item, then we will be distributing them later, keep an eye out for a PM with your item.

If you found yourself double charged for your subscription, then please file a billing ticket at our Help Center and include the billing information that is found in the PM that you get when you subscribe. Our team will make sure that this gets resolved for you if you found that you were charged twice for a subscription.

Hey Gaians,

We are in the process of completely revamping our Help Center under a new partner. During this time you will still be able to file tickets but will not be able to access your old tickets. We do still have your old ticket data on file and archived for historical purposes. If you have an existing ticket that has not been replied to, we are in the process of trying to import that ticket data into our new system. If you wish to file a new ticket regarding your situation, we suggest that you do so so that you don't have to wait on export and be any further delayed. Our new Help Center is still in its infancy stages, so we apologize for the minimal lay out thus far, but rest assured it will be alive and kicking in the future! We want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we revamp the Help Center and ticket flow process to be quicker and more efficient.

Android App Missing From Google Play store

Looks like one of the things I didn't get to update was the Gaia Android app. Recently it was removed form the Google Play store because it had some old library files that Google no longer allow.

I've updated the app and re-submitting it back to Google now. The app should be back in a few days. I've also fixed the GCash payment service.

Meanwhile, we're still working hard on the new mobile app! Hope to have more to share with you soon!

Android Mobile App Is Fixed, Please Delete Old Version

The new mobile app is still in development, but for now, the old mobile app for Android is back in the Google Play store.

The new app has the name "Gaia On The Go 2014". Please delete the old version and download this new one.

This updated version fixed a couple of bugs:

• - G Cash purchasing flow
• - Random crash in the home screen
• - Missing background when when time is 12am to 1am
• - Formatting error in the shop

Just here to update you all with some recent bug fixes:

• Journal commenting captcha fixed
• Vice Captain of guilds and clans can now leave on their own accord
• Fixed convention admin, our convention schedule now available on the World landing page
• PM flood control had been lowered to about 20 seconds, flood control won't affect PM to friends, added smarter spam control
• Fixed GCash reward hack
• Gaians who had history with us should not have trade blocked when making payments to Gaia

Looks like I messed up the Android app in the last build. I'll release a new one ASAP.

Android GCash payment fixed

For those who purchase GCash between June 17 to June 24, your payment had been refunded back to your Google account. Please try purchasing again to get your GCash.

There had been a server side error with Android payment on the Gaia mobile app for the past few days. We've finally fixed the issue.

Sorry for the trouble, the backend libraries had been updated, so things should work fine from now on.
