We have fixed an issue where some of you did not receive the Special Holiday Gift Box which contained the Santa March! We've also fixed a relevant issue where you did not get your achievement for participating in the 12 Days of Winter! Anybody who qualified for this and did not get it should now have it granted to their account. We thank everyone for their patience while we resolved this!

If you spent Gaia Cash between 12:00 PM PST and 12:55 PM PST on February 9th, 2015, your purchase may not have counted towards redeeming your Tier Rewards. Any users affected by this error should file a Billing Ticket with our Help Center and our team will make sure you get the points and rewards you've earned.

I have some big news to announce!

I’m pleased to introduce myself as the new Product Owner/General Manager for Gaia Online. I’m very honored and humbled to be a part of this extremely talented and hard-working team! I’ve been a playing member of Gaia since 2007 and I’ve been working for Gaia Interactive since 2013. I will be overseeing the entire product- pricing in shops, events, sales, feature updates and approving what gets made and what will get finished. Moving forward, I will try to be at as many ATS that can attend and also popping onto forums.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that we are a smaller team than the very large group that was here in 2008-2010. Despite our decrease in staff we are still very committed in pushing out fun features, games and content updates for all Gaians. Here are a few examples of projects we hope to add and maintain this year:

• Gaia Chat system
• Towns 2 update
• Weekly Dev Updates
• New and Old Game Updates
• Featured Weekly Avatars
• Regular Gold Shop Updates
• Monthly Events
• Manga updates
• and much more!

Due to our smaller size, I do request that the community please be patient with our updates, since we want to make sure that we are providing the most polished product possible before releasing it. Gaia Online is dedicated to making the best experience for all of our members- we will always be a free site to use and play on thanks to all of our Gaians. We wouldn't be Gaia without our community, whether you're posting in forums, hanging out in Towns, using the Marketplace, creating awesome avatars, or however you choose to enjoy Gaia. We'd also like to especially thank our Gaians who choose to support us financially. They help us ensure that we stay free to play and ensure that our community continues to exist far into the future. Gaia is going on 12 years this month, and it wouldn't be this way without them, or the support of all our Gaians.

We hope you are excited for new updates in 2015 and thank you everyone for your patience! Gaia Online is an amazing haven and community, unlike any other place in the world- together we can continue to nurture and grow this site for the enjoyment of new and old users alike!

Hey Gaians,

Our investigation has found that the awesome power level of the Olympus Gates being unsealed by the collective strength of the users is what was causing issues with the site earlier today. When we unsealed the Olympus Gate, so many of them started being opened at once that it caused issues with the site. Total overload! As a result, we have temporarily resealed the Gates and we will slowly be rolling out the ability to open them up in the near future. So keep an eye out for that! This change will allow us to start enabling features that we needed to disable to keep the site stable.

If you redeemed a Pink Bear Coupon or Black Bear Coupon offer between 5:00 PM PST and 5:45 PM PST on February 25th and received gold from your bear instead of Gaia Cash, you will be receiving a brand new bear shortly!

Hey Gaians,

We wanted to take a moment to address some concerns stemming from the LGBTQIA items that we released in the last Gold Shop Update. We wanted this to be an act of good will for our members since it is LGBTQIAQ Awareness month. These have been long requested items from Gaians and as a community we wanted to recognize that there are many who are figuring out who they are and this should be a safe and inviting place for all.

We understand that by releasing these items discussions have opened up about thoughts regarding LGBTQIA issues. They were not meant to cause anyone grief but, rather, to help reach out and spread awareness about the month itself.

This has led to threads becoming very heated, forums to become hostile and members saying things that are offensive to others. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion they need to be expressed in a way that is not a violation of our Terms of Service. There is a fine line between opinions and then terms and accusations that are offensive. It is possible for that expression to be a Terms of Service violation.

We'd like to remind everyone that, no matter what your beliefs or opinions are, respecting each other can go a long way. Our members come from all different cultures, backgrounds, upbringings and lifestyles from all over the world. This means that there has to be tolerance extended to others, especially under the circumstances when Gaia is paying tribute to a month that is that can be personally sensitive to some users.

No matter who you are, we are all Gaians. And, with that, we have a solid binding similarity that we share. We mainly want to reinforce that this is a positive experience.

• Restrictions on trashing items have been reduced, allowing far more items to be deleted! from inventory.

Hello Gaians,

We wanted to take a moment to provide some transparency in our recent letter sent to TekTek, what it means for the site, and why we sent it. As you may know, we are currently contacting TekTek over its usage of our intellectual property (IP). Let's outline the basic reasons: for a very long time, TekTek has benefited from the traffic generated by users travelling to their site from Gaia Online, and users have been able to utilize TekTek to craft dream Gaia Online avatars. In fact, many users aren’t even aware that it is an entirely separate site from Gaia, and one we have no input on. In general, there has been a healthy relationship between TekTek and Gaia Online as we have allowed this. Many, many months ago, TekTek launched a competitor site that directly began featuring ads on services carrying our intellectual property. As a business practice, this is not okay and we would like to resolve the matter with TekTek in a way that allows their site to remain up, and our property to stay protected. We are waiting for them to reply to our initial letter, taking the site down is our final resort if we are unable to come to a mutually beneficial decision.

We would like to thank Gaians for their understanding as we continue to work through this. We will update you all when we have a resolution to this.

Ever been curious how much your inventory is worth? ...Well we sure were!

If you are wondering just how much all that stuff is stashed away in your inventory, head on over to it and take a look. Next to the search bar and just below the count of items you have is a summation of the value of your inventory! It's based on marketplace averages for the items you own and updates approximately once an hour. So head over and take a look!

It's not quite the same as Scrooge's money bin, but it's probably the next best thing ...and probably much cushier.

Hey guys, it's been a little bit since the last update but rest assured a lot has been getting done!

• Tier spender replay attack fix
• Alchemy crafting bug fix
• Large gold amount display converted to lettered forms for legibility in shops
• Color coupon icons for the site header
• Voting payout increased
• Inventory Item Worth calculator added to inventory page
• Achievement grants for Wedding and D-Party issued for those who reported not getting the grants.

Currently they are hosted through a 3rd party and due to the age of the game's code, are the only option that can be used. Will all Staff Notifications moving forward be about what state the Avatar Builder is in? Will life forever be an unknowing void of uncertainty? Will Bluealaris always ask questions in third person? Answers are pointing to yes!

Currently due to the high octane use that our beta is seeing we have disabled the Avatar Builder for the time being in order to keep Gaia Online running at optimum. We are working on streamlining the beta's high amounts of traffic with our database server. Stay tuned for more news!

Lots of exciting things have happened since our last update!...

• 8 New Achievements were released.
• Site inventory search bug corrected so it returns items that contain all the words entered instead of any one of the words entered. (ie. Corrected a malformed AND search resulting in the system defaulting to an OR search.)
• Avatar Builder released!
• Addition to Avatar Builder to display frames with animated items!

• Chat system! Has been available to SCAS for testing.
• Pet system! Demo released internally to staff, it's looking awesome! We are still game balancing and getting in finalized assets, then we'll begin SCAS testing!

In addition there is our Throwback Spring Party! --Still in progress!!! Wowsa! ...Welp, back to work. So much to do, so little time!

We experienced a database server crash last night at about 3am PST. Functionality has been restored and we are up again! The site may experience some slow periods due to maintenance, so thank you in advance for your patience. Gaians,

We received word from our partner, PlanSpan, that on June 12th 2015, they will be shutting down their entire PlaySpan services.

How are we affected?

Gaians who have signed up for Auto Pay through Gaia will no longer be in service and will be auto canceled.

What is Gaia planning to do for a replacement?

We are currently working directly with PayPal to find an alternative to this, and we will be implementing a newer version with better rewards once we iron out the details with PayPal.
