• January 3 - Udon forum removed from the site.
• January 4 - Housing Item Update, furniture set.
• January 10 - Gaia Online E-mail Survey. A survey conducted by Harris Interactive for Gaia Online.
• January 18 - Trial of Ian began.
• January 19 - Multiplayer Fishing/Casino Report System is released.
• January 24 - January 2006 Thank You Letters opened and contained Angelic Parasol and Sword of Aegis.
• January 30 - Item Update, and this date marks the built in feature that would display new items first if a Gaian clicked a tab.
• January 31 - Gaia Gift Credits released. [1]
• January 31 - Gift Wrapping system updated.

• February 1 - GAIA Storyline Update. Ian found innocent in trial, but shot by The Sniper while leaving court.
• February 3 - Enchanted Trunk is now the Brown Giftbox.
• February 3 - Phone donation error resolved.
• February 4 - Fishing Store is upgraded. Wish List from the stores.
• February 4 - [NPC] Name Migration. NPC accounts on the site were given a red color, and their names began with [NPC]. Staff went through a list of Users name, and encouraged Gaians who had the title NPC, to alter it.
• February 7 - Housing Items Update, Classic Collection.
• February 7 - Gaia Channels introduced.
• February 9 - New Rares, both on the Forums and in Towns. Gaians had a chance to encounter a Rare Giftbox in Gaia Towns, a "shocked" emote would appear when there was an event present. Included in this update, adding items to Wooden Trunk and Gold Trunk.
• February 10 - Hair Salon glitch and recovery. There was a bug where Vanessa would not change a hair style, but instead, the hair style would be granted to the users inventory.
• February 11 - Item update, all the clothing from the last item update were now unisex, along with the old 2003 Flame, Ribbed, Brownie, and Flashy sets.
• February 14 - The Gift manga update.
• February 14 - Valentines 2k6 event.
• February 14 - Valentine's Festivities. Valentine's jewelry appeared at Barton Jewelers, and V-Day related emotes were in Gaia Towns.
• February 14 - Hair Salon Update.
• February 18 - Gaia turned three.
• February 18 - The Third Gaian Anniversary Ball in the Gambino Mansion in Durem took place. Avatar-swapping glitch occurred.
• February 23 - Chyaku Norisu Scarf and the G9 Laptop are released in the February 2006 Thank You Letters.
• February 28 to March 1 - Item glitch in which items were doubled. Gaia Economy shut down for hours.

• March 6 - Art Arena returned.
• March 6 - Housing item update with the theme of medieval and marine items.
• March 13 - Gaia Cards released.
• March 14 - Item Update. Pajamas, Saris', and new hairstyles.
• March 16 - Dri informs Gaians that Chainletters are spam.
• March 21 - Bank /Gifting Will Be Down While We Upgrade.
• March 21 - New Bank released, making trading easier.
• March 23 - Mochi Puppy and the Demonbow are released in the March 2006 Thank You Letters.
• March 29 - Shopping new store, and rod upgrades return. Prize & Joy has been added to the line-up of new stores.
• March 29 - Cindy reports to Gaians that there will be a Storyline update on Saturday April 1.

• April 1 - Storyline update involving Gino and Ian fighting a duel. LabTech X interfered, causing Gambino to split from Gino.
• April 4 - Highest Donator Contests no longer allowed, due to scamming.
• April 5 - Gaia Towns will be down Thursday, April 06, 2006.
• April 5 - Housing item update with the first kitchen items available.
• April 7 - Gaia Towns updated; shovels and nets no longer needed to collect items. Due to the items no longer being of Town use, the price was upped.
• April 7 - Gaia Towns returns.
• April 11 - Item update with the theme of cooking. Oven Mitts, Master Chef's Hat, Floral Apron, and Checkered Apron. Ending with, Navy Trimmed Chef's Coat and Professional Grade Bib Apron.
• April 11 - Donation Feedback Forms between 3/19-3/28. Ling informs Gaians to report if they experienced issues at that time.
• April 15 - Easter event starts on Sunday at 12am.
• April 16 - Easter 2K6 commenced and lasted a day and a half.
• April 19 - Store Update, Pirate set.
• April 20 to 21 - PM System: Planned Downtime for Upgrade.
• April 25 - G-BOT and Sun Staff released in the April 2006 Thank You Letters.
• April 25 - Dri informs Gaians that Chainletters are spam.
• April 26 - New fishing items released for the fish exchange.

• May 8 - Housing item update with the theme of kitchen and diner items.
• May 8 and 10 - Scheduled maintenance (read-only threads).
• May 8 - Donation Problem Resolved (May 4 - 8). Users were not able to receive their thank you letters. The problem was fixed.
• May 11 - Forums Read Only for About an Hour.
• May 15 - First time a Thank You Letter is opened in the middle of the month; Angelbow and the Chain of Command are released in the May 2006 Thank You Letters.
• May 16 - Scheduled Maintenance - Completed.
• May 17- Gaiaonline.com Data Move Complete.
• May 22 - Police uniform and dog/wolf sets released in stores.
• May 23 - Gaia at Fanime 2006.
• May 30 - Gift Credit Problems - Affecting last 2 weeks. Ling explains what happened to the Gift Credit system, and says to report if there are still issues. Besides that, it has been fixed.

• June 1- Note about the 403 forbidden error message. Dri explains what the error means, and that it doesn't mean a Gaians Account is banned.
• June 5 - Housing item update with physical fitness theme.
• June 5 to 8 - Avatar System Maintenance.
• June 9 - Marketplace Search changed format.
• June 12 - Towns downtime over weekend.
• June 14 - Gaia went to Anime Expo, July 1st - 4th, 2006. During this time, L0cke informed Con-goers a chance to win a customized PC created by him.
• June 15 - June 2006 Thank You Letters opened; contained Dark Halo and G Blade.
• June 15 to 22 - New Gaia Site Re-design preview.
• June 16 - Gaia Town downtime on Monday
• June 16 - New Profile Testing.
• June 20 - Gaia is redesigned with a new layout.
• June 21 - Starter sets for newbies are released.
• June 22 - Gaia Towns is upgraded. Create topics in Towns and Home, personalized name for Towns and Homes, also check PM from mailbox, and trees and rocks would now give Gold. With navigation, Gaians could mark a Town as their favorite, view up to 10 recent topics and go to that topics location, view current active population, see homes detailed information and Gaians were able to get to their own house, by click My Home. Lighting in houses was also supported, and profiles could be accessed.
• June 24 - Site re-design : we're listening. Users had concerns over the site redesign.
• June 26 - RSS Feed for Gaia Announcements added.
• June 30 - Gaia at Anime Expo.

• July 5 - Link thanking people for coming to the Anime Expo, stating that over 1,000 people came to the panel room, while 400 went to the social meeting.
• July 5 - Home Electronics and Casino Uniform Update.
• July 6 - There was a small bug with the new Home items, it was fixed.
• July 11 - New Profile v2 System.
• July 11 and 12 - Network Maintenance on 7/12 Completed.
• July 13 to 18 - Word Bump Game Added. During its released, errors work being worked on.
• July 15 - July 2006 Thank You Letters opened; contained Elegant Veil and Ancient Katana.
• July 17 - First Gaia 9 Action Newsletter is 'published' by Cindy Donovinh.
• July 19 - Gaia at Comic-Con San Diego, CA.
• July 21 - Gaia at Otakon 2006, August 4th.
• July 24 and 25 - Maintenance on Registration and Customize Me 7/25.
• July 26 - Avatars with Expressions and Mouth Styles Update. (With this update, the No Mouth - which was only gotten by registering - was not present. The updated forced a mouth on Gaians if they saved their Avatar.)

• August 1 - Web design - Lanzer ask for User input.
• August 1 - Network Maintenance 8/1 - Completed.
• August 7 - Item Update. Gunner set, Partition set, and Squid set.
• August 11 - Giftwrapping Repairs + Strong Passwords + Homes Reservation.
• August 14 - New Gaia TOS and privacy policy.
• August 14 - New Header image (replacing the beach kids), and introduction of Daily Chance. The DC had a set of chances: Common, Rare, and Very Rare. Very Rare being a pair of Fairy Wings (40K)
• August 14 to 16 - Bug in Daily Chance and Item Reversal. One of the bugs was DC granting people Fairy Wings, unreleased flowers and trash.
• August 15 - August Donation Items opened; contained Gwee the Dragon and the Angelic Microphone.
• August 31 - Gold Notification released. A feature created that would show how much Gold was earned after doing a certain activity on the site, like posting in a thread for example. Included in this update were adjustments on Poll Gold.

• September 1 - Announcement informing Gaians to Get Adobe Player 9 to Play Gaia Games.
• September 1 - Storyline Update at 6:00 PM PST. Return of Gambino.
• September 10 - Bachelors Credits gotten from playing Word Bump, would go to purchasing Bachelors Caps.
• September 11 - Topic Voting. A feature that would give Gaians the ability to thumbs up or thumbs down a thread. Threads that are ranked the highest can be viewed on the Community page and a special forum for just top ranked threads.
• September 11 - Items Update. Snug set, Missy set, 4th Amigo, and the Anti-Fashion set. The Snug set would eventually be made into a Starter set, but Staff give an early chance to get the items.
• September 12 - Surfpin phone donations bug fixed.
• September 15 - September Donation Items opened; contained ORLY? Hat and Mythrill Armor.
• September 22 to October 19 - Periodic updates, informing Gaians of: Slots, Cards, and Prize & Joy were coming back.
• September 28 - Friend List Update; simplifying the steps needed to make friends. Notable update, "Remove Me" button has been added, letting Gaians remove themselves from someone else's Friend List. [2]

• October 3 - Item Update. Raptor, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Dead Sexy, Autumn Stripes, Emote Masks, and Giant Eyeballs.
• October 5 - Simpler password retrieval system. This update informed Gaians of the phasing out security questions.
• October 12 - New Gaia banners around the site. Gaia event banners were around to promote various features, new items, and new events around the site. Some even gave a bit of Gold.
• October 12 - Improved Gold System. Tweaks to the gold granting system to give out more gold and bigger bonuses. These bonuses were done when Gaians did something on the site for the first time of the day, it would then reset to the next day.
• October 15 - October Donation Items opened; contained Shadow Spirit and Pixie.
• October 18 - New Invite System. During this time there was a chance to get a limited edition item due to invites. It was a chance to get the Halloween Event item early. Some Users abused this chance and crated dead mule Accounts, the Staff warned that this was bannable.
• October 25 - New Gaia Game: Gaia Jigsaw.
• October 30 - Cindy Donovinh's interview transcript with Ron Bruise and the Aliens posted.
• October 30 - Donation Items became Monthly Collectibles.[3]
• October 31 - Gaia Store update, limited edition Alien themed shirts.
• October 31 - Halloween 2k6 Party at the Gambino Mansion began.
• October 31 - The Halloween event is back. Due to some slightly massively huge overloading of the system, the Staff had to pause the event for a while.
• October 31 and November 1 - Towns had to be take down for a bit, there was a glitch in with candy being granted.

• November 3 - Halloween 2k6 Party extended to Saturday November 11.
• November 6 - Report system added to Private Messages.
• November 7 - Gaia User Survey.
• November 15 - November Monthly Collectibles released: MoMo the Monkey and Mini UFO.
• November 16 - Quest System released.
• November 20 - Mini UFO given the ability to fly in Gaia Towns.
• November 30 - Breaking News: Mysterious Crash-landing. A mysterious crash may have provided clues to the disappearance of UFO 9.

• December 4 - December's Monthly Collectibles: Packed with VALUE. This date marks the appearance of the 3 items in one Monthly letter. [4]
• December 5 - GStore updated with Panda Hat and Catscratch Hat.
• December 6 - Tagging System released and shop update: Jenny, Button Down and Zebra sets released, and some new jewelery.
• December 12 - Gaia 9 Exclusive Interview with Johnny Gambino.
• December 15 - December Monthly Collectibles released: Elemental Hair, Flame Sword and Winter Rose.
• December 16 - Rina announces; Xmas is Near! The Gaia Xmas Event started on Wednesday, December 20th, and ran through to January 1st.
• December 19 - Exclusive interview with Santa and UFO 2 + new Towns features. A snow feature was added to Towns. Adding people to friendlist from Towns, seeing colored names for Staff, and moving using the arrow keys, also being able to report rule violators.
• December 20 - Christmas 2k6 event started.
• December 24 - New Front Page Design, Lanzer asks for User input.
• December 28 - Going Postal returned.
• December 31 - Zurg Hive New Year's Ball started.
