• January 3 - For those who received 2004 donation letters on January 1st. Due to a bug in the donation system, all donations made on January 1st was granted the January 2004 donation letters. After much deliberation from the admin team they decided that it was only fair to have all donation letters granted on January 1st to be converted back to January 2005 sealed envelopes.
• January 11 to 12 - System Maintenance from 2AM - 4AM, PST.
• January 21 - Report System, Mod Structure, PM System Overhaul. [1]
• January 23 - Items Update.
• January 25 - January 2005 donation items were released with the choice between the Demonic Pendant or Angelic Bracelet.
• January 29 - VO announces; Admins will never contact you Via AIM/CHAT. During this month, they have been receiving reports of users being contacted by "fake admins" (such as VOatGAIA or LANZERatGAIA, etc).

• February 1 - January Fishing Contest Winners Deadline Extended. Due to a glitch in the reset code.
• February 2 - GAIA HOMES Preview. They hoped to release it within the month.
• February 3 - L0cke announces; Disruptive large scheme based posts not allowed. There was a recent trend of "post this bump for 14 gold" style threads has gotten to the point of disturbing many users experience on Gaia.
• February 10 - "Going Postal" was introduced.
• February 13 - Trading bug fix. Due to the database outage on Feb 11th the trading feature had been buggy and two sided item trades didn't work. It took some time but the bug had been fixed.
• February 14 - Gaia Valentine Event Update. To celebrate Valentine's Day, everyone received a box of Valentine chocolate to give to a special someone, if anyone did not receive chocolates, they could purchase a box for 100g from Barton Jewelers. During this time the Staff was working on the "Gaia Hangout System".
• February 15 - Gaia Hangouts was released.
• February 18 - Gaia turned two years old.
• February 18 - The Von Helson Sisters were introduced.
• February 18 - The Second Gaian Anniversary Ball took place.
• February 19 - Von Helson Mansion Sabotaged!
• February 21 - Items Update. Handheld items for Avatars,
• February 24 - February 2005 donation items were released, with the choice being between the Lunar Cloak or Solar Cloak.
• February 28 - GAIA Homes Progress Update. Staff was currently working to debug GAIA Homes, and hoped to release it by the end of the week.

• March 3 - Gaia Homes are released.
• March 4 - Fixed an issue that was preventing house saves.
• March 4 - Gaia Community Discussion, Gaia Gaming Discussion, Gaia Homes, and Site Feedback were created while other forums went through name changes and relocation.
• March 22 - Post search/post history fixed.
• March 23 - Private Messaging disabled until 7AM, PST.
• March 24 - Introducing Shadow Forums. Shadow Forums are forums on Gaia that have a second "fake" forum listed elsewhere on the site. These "shadows" redirect to the main subforum for a given area.
• March 24 - Items Update, new clothing.
• March 25 - March 2005 donation items were released with the choice between the KiKi Kitty Plushie or RoRo Robo-Puppy.
• March 25 - The Gaia Easter 2k5 Event was held in the Von Helson Mansion.

• April 1 - Story line update, disappearance and presumed death of the Von Helson Sisters and the Gambinos.
• April 5 - Site Maintenance at 12:00pm - 12:30pm, PST.
• April 10 - Gaia Online at Anime Boston! Gaia Online attended Anime Boston 2005, from April 29 to May 1 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts.
• April 21 and 22 - Regarding donation problems. Last week Gaia encountered an error and could not receive feedback messages for two days. Those who had an issue were asked to report it.
• April 23 - Item Update, new clothing.
• April 24 - April 2005 donation items were released with the choice between the Prism Butterfly Mantilla or the Chestplate of Arachne.
• April 27 - Paypal Donation problems resolved.
• April 28 - Gaia Fishing 1.5 was released, fishing now multiplayer.

• May 3 - Hacking, decompiling Gaia flash games will result in banning. Note that the use of any decompiled flash clients, tools to increase profits, or tools to monitor network traffic are all considered as cheating. The use of any of these tools will result in immediate banning to all accounts related to the user.
• May 3 - Rules of conduct in Gaia Fishing and Gaia Chat. Any users found breaking the TOS within Gaia Fishing or any of the Gaia Chat games will immediately lose access to all Gaia games for a day, and further reports will result in banning.
• May 4 - Missing posts. Staff was working on a new forum system which is much faster and easier to upgrade. During this transition, many of the older messages had been placed in a back up database, so they might not have been showing up in the forum areas, or having showed up as a blank message.
• May 11 - Gaia Online at Fanime and Project A-Kon 16. Gaia Online attended FanimeCon 2005 from May 27 to May 30 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California. Gaia Online also be attended Project A-Kon 16 from June 3 to June 5, 2005 at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Dallas, TX.
• May 13 - Recent gold exploit and possible rollback. May 7th there had been a bug which allowed users to earn gold at a very fast rate. A lot of users had taken that opportunity to run bots and scripts to obtain a lot of gold. As a result, those users had a lot of gold to buy rare items and donation items at very high prices. Though the problem had been fixed and those who cheated were punished, there was talk of a 4 day rollback.
• Continued - After the initial checking, it looks like there had been more than 80 million gold created due to the bug, with hundreds of accounts accumulated more than 20,000 gold. There are simply too many accounts to be reversed by hand.
• May 13 - Rollback in which gold, inventories, marketplace and trades were set back to what they were on May 9th, 2005 at 3:00am, PST due to a glitch with gold.

• May 13 - Gino Gambino turned 17, but wasn't around for it.
• May 14 - Rollback almost complete. The rollback took longer to perform than expected. Items from the MP or that were traded, were returned; compensation was given: Regular users were given 1700 G, while New users were given 500 to 1700 depending on when they signed in.
• May 18 - Donation problems due to rollback.
• May 19 - Items Update, new hairstyles and housing items.
• May 24 - May 2005 donation items were released with the choice between the Guitar of Angellus or the Guitar of Demona. (This date marks the first time the image of Avatars in announcements displaying the Monthly item).
• May 27 - Gaia Fanime Panel on May 28, at 2:00PM

• June 7 - New Feature! Gaia Downloads. There were various desktop wallpapers, as well as a Yahoo! Messenger Avatar Customizer. Gaians could also use their Avatar as their YIM icon.
• June 8 - Slight downtime during 1 to 3pm, PST. Testing out new hardware and features.
• June 9 - Forum Posts -Under Migration-.
• June 16 - Gaia Maintenance Notice. Gaia was upgrading their forum system; From 5:00AM to 6:00AM, all of Gaia was down for upgrade. From 5:00AM to 12:00PM, PST, Gaia's forum was down for maintenance.
• June 17 - Introducing the New Forum Code. New bbCode and Smilies.
• June 21 - Gaia Casino was released.
• June 24 - June 2005 donation items were released with the choice between the Phoenix Circlet or the Bone Dragon Helm.
• June 29 - Gaia Panel at Anime Expo 2005.

• July 12 - Missing PayPal Sealed Envelopes. There was a bug in which PayPal donators from July 8th to the 11th received 1 Sealed Envelope per donation regardless of the amount they donated.
• July 16 - Optional Word Filter introduced.[3]
• July 20 - Forum downtime tonight from 12AM - 1AM, PST. Installation of new storage area network.
• July 20 - Items Update. The update includes the G-LOL set and the Split set.
• July 25 - July 2005 donation items were released with the choice between the Solar Headdress or the Lunar Cowl.
• July 29 - Inventory organizer introduced.
• July 29 - Gaia User Ads introduced.[4]

• August 5 - GAIA Storyline Update. Gino Gambino reappeared in an 8-page manga titled "Gino Returns".
• August 13 - New signature rules on Gaia.
• Augusts 14 - Gaia at Otakon 2005.
• August 25 - August 2005 donation items were released with the choice between the Whip of Fire or the Whip of Ice.

• September 1 - Guild System is going down for maintenance [updated].
• September 3 - Gaia Towns Alpha Testing began.
• September 6 - Gold glitch and system downtime.
• September 9 - Avatar saving is back.
• September 14 - Gaia Towns Beta Testing was released.
• September 14 - Gaia Homes 1.5 released.
• September 16 - Added the bug catching feature in Towns. Originally Gaians had to purchase a net from Old Man Logan's store.
• September 16 - Gaia Guilds 2.0 Beta released.
• September 16 - Post Types Released. Dice Rolls, Document Style Posts, Post Some of Your Inventory, Post Friends, Shout!, and Think.
• September 20 - Item Update, small item update for shops.
• September 22 - Missing avatars restored.
• September 25 - September 2005 donation items were released with the choice between the Pandy Pack or the Hard Shell Pack. (This date marks the first Monthly item to have an "I am..." pose.)

• October 10 - Enhanced Gaia Profiles pre-released.
• October 11 - GAIA Storyline Update. "Gino Returns" part two was released in another 8-page comic.
• October 14 - Concerning naked avatars and old or buggy avatars. Lanzer informs Gaians that Avatars with missing limbs, or being fully nude, would be systematically re-saved if Users were not compliant.
• October 20 - Gaia Towns will be disabled till next week.
• October 23 - October 2005 donation items were released with the choice between the CoCo Kitty Plushie or the Wind Security Blanket.
• October 24 - Gaia downtime. Sever upgrades.
• October 25 and 26 - Gaia Towns officially released.
• October 27 - Flowers and Trash are released into Towns. Original Gaians had to go to Rina's Flowershoppe in Barton, and pick up a Garden Shovel to be able to pick flowers.
• October 28 - Halloween 2k5 party at the Gambino Mansion.
• October 28 - Halloween Item Update.
• October 28 - Bucho announced; Pre-Halloween Party in Gambino's Mansion.
• October 28 - Bucho announced; GRUNNY INVASION.
• October 30 - Grunny event ended at 6PM Pacific, 9PM Eastern.
• October 31 to November 3 - Trick or Treating for Halloween 2k5 began.
• October 31 - ZOMBIE INFO. Information on the Green Vial and what it did.

• November 7 - GAIA Storyline Update. The feud of Santa Vs. Jack began.
• November 8 - New Halloween Themed Wallpapers, available on Gaia Downloads page.
• November 8 - Gaia Ads Now Available in Per-Day Blocks. No longer selling Gaia User Ads in blocks of 10,000 impressions at the Gaia Store, instead, ads were placed into rotation with the other active ads, and would remain visible for as many days of exposure as purchased.
• November 9 - S CORP was born.
• November 12 - Donation problems would be resolved soon.
• November 14 - New town map neighborhoods added. Increasing space in Gaia towns so Gaians would have a place to put their Homes.
• November 21 - Avatar Arena released.
• November 22 - November 2005 donation items were released with the choice between the Sno Yeti Pillow Plush or the Nitemare Parasol.
• November 23 - Enhanced Profiles officially released.
• November 28 - Avatar Arena Voting Begins.
• November 28 - Monthly Collectible purchase by Phone Now Possible.
• November 30 - GAIA Storyline Update. Santa Vs. Jack feud was resolved, introduction of The Masque.

• December 2 - The exchange of trash, bugs, and flowers from Towns for other items was made possible.
