- May 20 - Salon Durem was opened, it became possible for one to change hairstyles conveniently, without deleting the current avatar. (Announcement has Durem spelled "Dürem Salon") This also marks the debut of NPC Vanessa.

- June 6 - System maintenance for 1 hour.
- June 9 - Archiving system now active.
- June 10 - Durem Salon FAQ.
- June 16 - System downtime and site renewal.
- June 21 - Server Maintenance Tonight at 3:00am PST. Gaia would be down for maintenance on June 22, 3:00am PST. Services should have resumed at around 4:00am, PST.
- June 22 - Apologies for today's downtime. The database had to go through an optimization that morning. The process started at 1:00am but due to the large size of the database the process was not finished until 6:45pm in the afternoon.
- June 23 - Items/Hairstyles Update. Two new clothing sets and two new hairstyles had been added.
- June 24 - June 2004 Thank You Letters opened - Angelic Pendant or Horns of the Demon.
- June 26 - New layout.
- June 29 - Testing load balancer. For better performance, and in order to keep a consistent URL for all the forum pages around the site, a load balancer was installed.

- July 3 - Gaia Social event at Anime Expo 2004. It was Gaia Social on Sunday, 11:00am, and held at the courtyard between Hilton and the convention center.
- July 7 - Gaia Online Staffs Would Never Ask For Passwords. Arwen informs Gaians "Don't Loan Any Of Your Items"
- July 7 - Gaia Store opened.
- July 20 - Database bugs and rollback of user accounts.
- July 20 - Hairstyles and Items Update. Two new clothing sets and two new hairstyles had been added.
- July 21 - Hipster Shades Fixed.
- July 22 - Gaia Guild Network (GGN, Gaia Guilds) released.
- July 23 - Friendslist now active feature.
- July 25 - July 2004 Thank You Letters opened - Steel-Plated Ninja Band or Kitsune Mask.
- July 26 - Concerning Kitsune Mask Donation Item. There was a minor glitch with how the masked equipped.
- July 26 - Concerning Site Lag and Connection Errors. While debugging the database system, the site was experiencing connection errors associated with the install of the new system.

- August 10 - July Donation Item Issues resolved. People who were missing their July donation letters were told to report.
- August 11 - System Downtime on Thursday Night, August 12th. Lanzer informs Gaians that Gaia would be down, due to moving to a new service provider. A couple of servers every month to keep up with the demand for traffic.
- August 13 - Server migration complete. The move was completed by the entire Gaia staff, between the hours of 10pm august 12th, and 11am. During that time the Avatar and Inventory server was down. Sushi Errors were springing up, and kaia9 informed Gaians avoid going into the art arena, doing trades and vending.
- August 16 - Growing pains. For the past two days, there were problems with network equipment due to the server migration. Within this announcement, Lanzer informs Gaians that "The end of the alpha testing phase should come within the next two months, right before we introduce the battle system."
- August 20 - Items Update, new clothes.
- August 23 - Regarding Banner ads on Gaia. At this moment, the cost for up keeping the service and site development has increased significantly. In order for Gaia to be able to keep a free service for all users, it was necessary to display banner ads to help offload the costs of maintaining and developing the site.
- August 24 - August 2004 Thank You Letters opened - Golden Laurels or Winged Anklets.
- August 25 - Green Sparkly on Golden Laurels Fixed.
- August 27 - First GAIA Olympic Event Coming Soon... Friday, August 27th at 6:00pm PST, Gambino's Mansion was open for all to enter.
- August 28 - Johnny K. Gambino announces; Hold Yer Horses, GAIA OLYMPICS ARE COMING.
- August 29 - Gaia Olympics 2k4 hosted by Gambino.

- September 2 - Gaia Fishing Preview.
- September 3 - Site downtime today at 11:00am PST.
- September 3 - Lanzer announces; Regarding items lost due to trading. There were some issues with trading and how items went missing after trades were completed or canceled. For those who had encountered this problem, they were told to report it.
- September 7 - An incremental "roll forward" occurred.
- September 22 - Items Update, two item sets and two new hairstyles.
- September 24 - Gaia Journals released.
- September 24 - September 2004 Thank You Letters opened - Bani Clips or Goti Ear Muffs.
- September 28 - Thread Subscriptions introduced.

- October 11 - No banner ads for donators. For a period of thirty days starting from the day Gaia received a donation.
- October 18 - Introduction of G CORP.
- October 20 - Gaia Standard Time introduced.
- October 26 - Delay for donation item. During this time gaia avatar system 2.0 was being incorporated into the system, the items in the letters were dependent on this new system. With the release of the Monthly items (see below), these are the first two items that show off the "Pose" feature. During this time, clothing was also redrawn to work with the new system.
- October 26 - AVATAR System 2.0 In Public Testing.
- October 27 - October 2004 Thank You Letters opened - Demonic Pitchfork or Staff of the Angels.
- October 27 - Gold Shop update; Halloween costumes.
- October 29 - Jakobo announces; Introduction of the Password Retrieval System. This would allow Users to retrieve their passwords by answering a security question. (Note: This system has since been removed from Gaia altogether.)
- October 29 to 30 - HALLOWEEN/GINO's BDAY BASH HAS BEGUN! Johnny K. Gambino invites Gaians to a Halloween Bash on Saturday, 10/30/04 starting at 12pm PST (12am GST).
- October 30 - Halloween 2k4 hosted by Gambino. Gambino Mansion blown up, and Gino Gambino went missing.
- October 30 - Trick-Or-Treating 2k4 with Jack. VO Informs Gaians that Jack hates the broad daylight, so he won't show up on broad daylight hours on Gaia.

- November 1 - Halloween: Trick or Treating has been extended!
- November 1 - Regarding the Halloween Event and Site Problems.
- November 13 - Jakobo announces; Gaia Redirect.php To Help Protect Against Scams. This announcement explained that: URL tags will not count towards total signature limit, and a Gaia style notice would be incorporated into a top frame.
- November 17 - Jakobo announces; Item Recovery Claims for Sep 02 Rollback. (see Sept 3) Gaians were told to report if they had any items missing, only 6 total could be reported.
- November 19 - Gaia Fishing had been released.
- November 19 - Regarding Fishing and Site Status. VO informs Gaians that due to fishing being a new game, there will be bugs and losses of fish as it works for the first time with multiple people. He advises Gaians to buy the cheapest bait, fish at Bass'ken, master the basic fishing rod, and to be patient.
- November 23 - Gold Shop update; Thanksgiving themed items.
- November 24 - Lanzer announces; Banning Due To Recent Fishing Store Glitch. The fishing store had a glitch which allowed a user to gain a very large amount of gold from typing in false data.
- November 25 - November 2004 Thank You Letters opened - Ice Gauntlet or Bit Too Kewl Hat.
- November 30 - Fishing errors resolved; lost fish granted.

- December 4 - Marketplace 2.0 Released.
- December 8 - Fishing errors resolved; lost fish granted. kaia9 warns Users that exploiting glitches for the Fishing Game, would lead to Accounts being banned.
- December 10 - Concerning Hair items/wig exploit. There was a bug. The announcement warned Gaians to not attempt to equip/sell/trade/vend or anything else with hair items, until the issue was addressed the next day.
- December 11 - Gift Wrapping returned, Jewelry engraving was also fixed.
- December 17 - Winter Holiday Items Update.
- December 24 - Gaia Christmas Caroling Event Is Here. Gaia Caroling event. The caroling event had been extended till Christmas Day, so everyone who spent time with the family will have more chances to collect on that year's items.
- December 25 - A Gaia Christmas Story. Gino Gambino reappears.
- December 26 - December 2004 Thank You Letters opened - Fire Gauntlet or Oddly Mischievous Freaky and Grim Hat.
- December 28 - Fish Exchange forum opened.
